全球揽才！宁波诺丁汉大学2700万奖学金招博士生

本周，宁波诺丁汉大学在官网公布了2021博士生奖学金政策，多重补贴累计金额高达2700万元，为该校历史之最。

已公布的奖学金包括学院全额奖学金、主题研究奖学金和多项博士生联合培养项目奖学金。此外，今年的直通车（High Flyer）奖学金不仅仅为本科生直博提供申请机会，还向拥有一等学位的硕士毕业生敞开大门。

宁波诺丁汉大学面向全球招收博士生。通过筛选获得奖学金项目的博士生不仅可以被免去博士课程期间36个月的学费，还能获得学校提供的每月生活补贴，另有医疗保险等福利保障。宁诺研究生院相关负责人表示，“我们希望让博士生们无后顾之忧，能够心无旁骛地进行学术研究”。

虚假新闻、中国电影美学、初创企业纽带、企业绿色转型、抗癌药物研发、空间微型推进器……纵览学校目前已公布的二十个主题研究项目，既有针对尖端前沿科技的研究，也有深度探究社会经济文化相关的议题。

值得一提的是，每个研究项目都共享诺丁汉大学的全球资源。比如海洋动力学项目由宁波诺丁汉大学的朱芳芳博士联合英国诺丁汉大学的Nicholas Dodd教授跨国进行指导，该项目主要目的是开发一种新颖的数值模型来模拟海滩的营养状况；抗癌药物研发项目更是有四位导师跨国联合执导——宁诺的唐本灿博士、英诺的Michael Stocks教授和Jonathan Hirst教授以及南开大学的杨光博士。

此外，今年博士联合培养项目奖学金多达十一个，合作院校皆为“超一流”大院大所，包括中国科学院宁波材料技术与工程研究所、中国科学院地理科学与资源研究所、中国科学院城市环境研究所、上海高等研究院、中国科学院深圳理工大学（筹）、浙江大学和深圳大学等。合作研究领域涵盖新材料科学、先进制造、电机及驱动、复合材料、能源和环境、地理学、人文社会科学等学科。

我们了解到，在宁波诺丁汉大学就读的博士生，有机会前往英国诺丁汉大学或U21国际高校联盟进行为期6个月到1年的研究深造，参与各项学术比赛，开展国际学术合作。除此之外，博士生在博士课程的第二年，还将有机会进行带薪教学或是担任研究助理。成功完成博士学位的学生将被授予诺丁汉大学博士学位，该学位得到中国教育部和英国质量保证局的认证。

Record 27 million RMB available for PhD scholarships

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) has announced its 2021 PhD scholarships, offering unprecedented subsidies for tuition fees and living allowances of more than 27 million RMB.

These cover faculty scholarships, strategic research scholarships and doctoral training partnership (DTP) scholarships. It is noteworthy that the University’s “high flyer” scholarships this year have not only provided an opportunity for direct entry into PhD programmes for undergraduates but are also open to those with Masters’ degrees.

In 2021, the University will offer eleven DTP scholarships, cooperating with first-class universities and institutes, including Ningbo Institute of Industrial Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CNITECH, CAS), Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resource Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGSNRR, CAS), Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IUE, CAS), Zhejiang University, Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SARI, CAS), Shenzhen University and so on. The DTP programmes fields include new materials science, advanced manufacturing, motors and drives, composite materials, energy and the environment, geography, humanities and social sciences.

There are also 20 strategic research topics covering a wide variety are available for potential PhD candidates to explore, such as Chinese Film Aesthetics, Heterogeneous Network Representative Learning to Predict Start-up Tie Formation and Space Micro propulsion.

Candidates will be able to utilise the global resources of the University of Nottingham, such as the field of Coastal Dynamics. It aims to develop a novel numerical model that will simulate beach nourishment and its supervisory team includes Dr Fangfang Zhu from UNNC and Professor Nicholas Dodd from the University of Nottingham UK.

Besides, PhD candidates at UNNC will be able to conduct research overseas at the University of Nottingham or other U21 partners, participate in various academic competitions and establish international research collaborations. In addition, PhD candidates also can carry out paid teaching or research assistant duties at UNNC from the second year of their PhD programmes. On successful completion of the programme, candidates will be awarded a PhD degree from the University of Nottingham, which is accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

The University’s PhD programmes welcome applicants from all over the world and provide a wide variety of support. The PhD scholarships cover the 36-month tuition fee, monthly stipend and other expenses such as medical insurance. "We want to provide PhD candidates the opportunity to do their academic research without distractions," said a staff member of the Graduate School.
