Are you cold?大家冷不冷啊？Recently it’s much colder and colder .最近，冰城哈尔滨真的是越来越冷了。所以今天就和大家一起来聊一聊和寒冷有关的英语。It’s so cold during the past weekend, so I didn’t brave the cold. brave我们知道是勇敢的意思，但也具有动词的词性，to brave the cold就是不怕冷冲出去。那么，当很冷的时候，怎么形容你自己非常冷非常冷呢？I’m so cold.已经没有办法形容了，这时就可以用到一个词，freezing, I am freezing. It’s freezing outside.意思就是冷的快要冻僵了。细心的听众朋友们，有没有发现我们家用的冰箱有一层叫freezer,意思就是冷冻层。最近哈尔滨的最高温度也都在零下15度左右，below zero，就是零下。所以fifteen degrees below zero，就是零下15度。

四季分明的哈尔滨，在冬天，我们总会遇到一些恶劣的天气，比如blizzard暴风雪，cold snap寒潮。那每到冬季，有一个词也会频繁出现，它就是雾霾。雾霾袭城，其实在我们哈尔滨也是刚刚过去不久。It’s a serious air quality issue for environment protection.那么雾霾的英文怎么说呢？smog, s-m-o-g, smog, put smoke and fog together. So we’re used to wearing face masks during the past days hung over smog heavily. Maybe it’s gonna do anything.我们通常在雾霾的天气下如何进行自我保护呢？那就是face mask，戴口罩。说到smog，我们就会想到空气质量air quality，PM2.5，PM stands for Particulate Matter,指的就是细颗粒物。PM2.5 is more important to pay attention because it’s so small that it can get into blood steam.

寒冷的天气下，我们都离不开保暖的装备，比如down jacket羽绒服啊,在这里down不是向下的意思，它还有另一个意思就是羽绒。那鹅绒的羽绒服就是goose down jacket.初冬的时候，大家都习惯去穿轻羽绒，那轻羽绒的表达就是lightweight down jacket.特别冷的时候，我们也都需要一套保暖内衣，thermal underwear就是保暖内衣.还有近几年一直比较受欢迎的雪地靴。澳大利亚的一个品牌。在这里，一定要和大家说一下，这个品牌不读UGG,其实正确发音是[Λg]，据说，品牌最初的名字是ugly boots,这个名词是不是很可爱呢？很多人都觉得它很ugly,之后这个品牌就简称为UGG.所以，我们要记住，雪地靴的正确发音是[Λg]。

说完了装备，我们再来说说严冬里，你最爱吃些什么呢？是不是很多人都会说hot pot火锅呢？那我们都知道，2017年6月，《公共服务领域英文译写规范》正式实施，《规范》涵盖了交通、旅游、文化、教育等13个领域的英文译写标准,提供了常用的3500余条规范译文。The names of Chinese food are infused with its culinary culture, and expressing them in English is not always so easy. Chinese food has become more popular around the world in recent years, so it’s essential to standardize the translation.我们中国菜名都注入了烹饪文化，用英语表达起来不是那么容易。随着中国美食在全球越来越受欢迎，因此翻译规范化显得十分必要。比如像我们刚刚提到的冬天里深受我们北方人热爱的美食hot pot，也就是火锅. Some spicy and tingly dishes are also popular with us in winter.麻辣的食物也是冬天里我们很难抗拒的。辣是spicy,那么麻就是tingly.那么麻辣烫在《规范》中译文就是spicy hot pot.

I come from Anhui Province. When I first spent the winter in north, itvery surprised me, because it'smuch colder outside, but when I came into the house in north, I almost thought that was a new world, becauseit's so warmin their houses. But in myhometown or even in the south ofChina, there is no heating system, so I think that is very comfortable and humanize, nowadays I finally found the way that how the northerners spend winter in their hometown.I think you are so lucky that you have a warm winter with the beautiful scenery. As a person borned in the north, I think the winter in the north is very cold. Whenever winter comes, we willdress warmlyto keep warm and bring a bottle of hot water when we are out of house. The most popular food is Hot Pot in winter and we enjoy having it with our friends and families.Because it is necessary to exercise during the cold winter, we are fond of jogging outside to fight with cold. Althoughit's extremely cold in north, God gave the northern winter another valuablething-snow. In the northern winter snow is very beautiful. The snow brings us with many happiness. We can make a snowman and have a snowball fight. This is northern winterin my eyes. That is all I wanna say. Thank you for your listening. I hope you have a great winter.
