M:Have you seen my new computer?

W:It looks good —the latest stylish mouseand a really nice keyboard. It’s quite a big screen. Your old one was much smaller. When did you buy it?

M:A few days ago, so I’m sure there’ll be many new things to learn about.Now the only thing is one of the keys I use a lot is in a different position from the keyboard I had before, so I have to take my eyes off the screen and look down to press it.

W:I’m sure it’ll be easy to use soon.

M:I think so. And I like it very much.

W:Hello, I want to book a room for the evening of September 1st.

M:Let me see... Yes, we have two rooms available that evening.There’s our Main Hall. That’s got seating for 200 people.Or there’s the Charlton Room. That’s got seating for up to 100.

W:Well, we’re organizing a dinner to raise money for a charity,and we’re hoping for at least 150 people, so I think we’ll go to the Main Hall.How much would that cost?

M:From 6:00 p.m. to midnight,that’d be 115 pounds.

W:OK.

M:And about ten days before your event, please contact Mr. Evans to make the arrangements for entry.He’ll sort that out with you.

W:Do I give him the payment as well?

M:No, you do that directly with me.

M:My family is not big or small, just my older step-brother, my mom, my step-father and me.How about you?

W:I have three older sisters, my twin sister,a younger brother, and parents.

M:I didn’t know you were a twin!

W:Yes, we look exactly the same, but we are completely opposite when it comes to everything else.

M:Interesting. It must be great having a twin sister. Are you best friends, too?

W:We used to be really close,but that all has changed since she moved to Shanghai.How about your family?You didn’t mention your biological father.

M:I don’t know much about him. He died in Wuhan when I was just a baby.Even though I don’t have a blood relationship with my step-father and step-brother, I consider them to be my real family.

W:What about your step-brother’s mother? Does he keep in touch with her?

M:No, she also died when my step-brother was little.My mother and my step-father met each other shortly after my father died and became good friends. They ended up getting married in Beijing a few years later.

W:Sounds like it was meant to be.
