“If countries are becoming similar, then cultural varieties would be demolished.” 他是想说：“如果国家之间变得越来越像，那么文化多样性将会消失”，但是又觉得“消失”用disappear太过普通，于是就想起了之前背过的demolish一词。但是，查过词典你会发现，demolish只适用于两种情况：

1. 用于描述拆除建筑;2. 用于反驳别人的言论。很显然，用demolish来说文化的消失是不准确的。

无视词组搭配

受汉语思维影响，有些同学容易将脑海里想的中文直接翻译成英文，而忽略了英语本身的语言规则。比如，说到“提升能力”，不想用千篇一律的“improve competence”，有的同学写到了“raise competence”，认为这样减小了“撞车”几率，但是可以raise能和competence连用吗?我们来借助一下在线的英文语料库：
