The DESIGN FACTORY INTERNATIONAL (DFI) offers an exciting and innovative study programme for talented students who are looking for an exceptional international educational experience. Through global networking we have built partnerships with design schools in Asia and Great Britain have been built. More will follow. After concluding their exams in Hamburg our students may go to Portsmouth, U.K., for an academic BA (Bachelor of Arts) degree. Or to Shanghai, China, currently the hottest city on the planet.

Since our foundation in 1992 the college has continuously adapted its curriculum to stay at the leading edge of contemporary design and newmedia developments in the professional environment of a globalising international economy. It is installed as a database on our homepage; after the intermediary examination all students can register for their courses via Internet and make their choices according to their talents and ambitions.

The DFI¡¯s particular charm is linked to our location in Hamburg¡¯s St. Pauli district, as well as the familiar atmosphere which we have gone out of our way to maintain since our foundation in 1992. The aim of the DFI study programme is to qualify its students as professional Communication Designers capable of working successfully in any of the current international design and media hot-spots.

Students are educated to act with an independent but team-oriented spirit, capable of taking design-related decisions and communicating them to others. DFI always moves beyond mere decorative design solutions and has taken to heart the legendary Bauhaus principle that form should follow function, which translates today into form following strategic solutions. The freedom to experiment with the discovery of new communication solutions stands above any clinging to traditional design forms.
