上海出版印刷高等专科学校创建于1953年，是新中国建立的第一所出版印刷类高等学校，中国出版印刷专业教育的摇篮，国家新闻出版广电总局与上海市人民政府共建的特色学校；被国家新闻出版广电总局确定为“国家印刷出版人才培养基地”，连续三次被国家授予“技能人才培育突出贡献奖”，是国家100所示范性骨干高职院校建设单位。60年来培养了5万多名高层次技术骨干和行业高级管理人才。

学校坚持以就业为导向，工学结合，服务行业；多年的传承与积淀形成了工、文、艺融汇且有鲜明特色的“印刷工程与包装设计”、“出版传播与文化管理”、“艺术设计与影视动漫”三大专业群。学校现设有印刷包装工程系、出版与传播系、印刷设备工程系、艺术设计系、文化管理系、影视艺术系、基础教学部、中外合作教育部和继续教育部等教学部门。

学校重视学生专业技能培养，形成了由课程实验、生产实训、顶岗实习构成的实践教学体系。建有一流的实验、实训设施，专业设备种类齐全，实验实训项目丰富。

学校扩大国际合作和交流，选派教师出国进修，拓展国际合作办学，已与美国罗切斯特理工学院、英国兰开夏中央大学、莫斯科印刷学院、德国斯图加特传媒学院、加拿大雪瑞丹学院等国际知名院校开展了合作办学项目，国际化办学成为学校的品牌。

目前学校有全日制在校生4600多人，成人学历教育学生500余人。学校培养的学生在毕业生人才市场上具有很强的竞争力，受到用人单位的广泛欢迎。毕业生就业率连续几年一直在98%以上，专升本率历年保持在15%以上。

学校将进一步依托行业优势，发展特色、立足上海、服务全国，努力创建国家示范性高职院校，使学校成为国家出版印刷人才培养基地、上海文化创意产业服务基地、国际先进传媒技术推广基地，培养具有国际视野、人文素养、艺术眼光、创新意识的印刷出版传媒类高端技能型人才。

Founded in 1953, the Shanghai Publishing and Printing College at USST (the former Shanghai Publishing and Printing College), was the first educational institution linked to the publishing and printing industry in China. It is co-sponsored by the Shanghai Municipality and the General Administration of Press and Publication of the P.R. China. In the past 60 years, we have graduated more than 30,000 trained technicians and high-level senior management personnel for China's publishing and printing industry. SPPC was named a National Printing and Publishing Training Base in 2005,and recognized for Outstanding Contributions to Skilled Talents Training succesively in 2008,2010 and 2012 by the General Administration of Press and Publication of the P.R. China.SPPC won the Award of Excellence in Talents Cultivation Level Assessment for Higher Vocational Education in 2008 and has been ranked among the top 100 Key National Higher Vocational and Technical Colleges in 2010.

At present, the College consists of various departments, namely, Printing & Packaging Engineering, Publications & Communications, Printing Equipment Engineering, Arts & Design, Cultural Management, Film & Television Art, Basic Teaching, Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education and Further Education. The College adheres to the principle of employment-oriented, combining learning and working to serve the industry; with the accumulation and transmission for years, the College has formed 3 distinctive specialty groups, namely, "Printing and Packaging," "Publishing Media", "Art Design and Animation", which symbolize the integration of engineering, literature and arts.

The College places great emphasis on cultivating students’ professional skills, established the practice teaching system which consists of course experiment, production training and internship. The professional equipments are in full range, and experiment &training projects are extensive.

The College actively expands the international cooperation and communication, designating excellent teachers abroad for further study.

At present, there are more than 4600 full-time students and over 500 adult students in degree programs. Graduates from the college have proven to be more competitive in the vocational talent market and therefore are enthusiastically welcomed by employers. The success rate of our graduates seeking employment is consistently above 97%.

The College will further rely on its advantages in the industry, highlighting the principle of “Basing itself in Shanghai, making a contribution to society and facing the world”, promoting characteristics and innovating educational model, striving to create a "Trinity" national model vocational college, which will be the integration of National Printing and Publishing Training Base, Service Base of Shanghai Culture Creation Industry and International Advanced Media Technology Promotion Base; and it will provide the country with more highly skilled personnel in printing and publishing who have acquired international knowledge, humanistic quality, artistic visions and innovative perspectives.
